God Gives Grace to the Humble
“be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time”1 Peter 5:5–6
I had commented before how I thought one of the most powerful moments in the COPA trial was when COPA lawyers cross-examined ZeMing Gao, reading some of Gao’s previous blog posts in regards to the case out loud in court.
The blog had some very candid truths in it, about Dr. Wright being proven Satoshi by a Bayesian probability analysis, and how the COPA case is a test of the court and law itself, rather than if Dr. Wright is Satoshi.
The powerful truth in ZeMing Gao’s analysis of the case however comes off as a bit presumptuous, making it not the ideal way to present the argument to the judge and court from Dr. Wright’s side. As I have said before, the battle for the Truth of Bitcoin is a Spiritual War. We should approach all things with God’s wisdom in mind. Not that Gao’s blog post would be a bad argument to make, as it is filled with sharp truths, but that there is a level of decorum and respect one must have when engaging in a high court of law, overseen by a judge who deserves for us to bestow him honour.
I think COPA lawyers made a mistake, thinking that if Dr. Wright’s lawyers wanted to stay away from the blog posts and the arguments made in it, then it means the information itself is bad for Dr. Wright’s case. I believe the information is actually powerful in favor of Dr. Wright’s case, but I believe there was sensitivity in the way this information could be presented to the court which was the issue Dr. Wright’s side may have been worried about.
COPA lawyers did Dr. Wright’s side a favor by being the ones to initiate the blog posts to the court. Repeating the sharp truths in ZeMing Gao’s blog allowed the truth to be presented while also retaining utmost respect for the judge and court.
“Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.”Proverbs 18:12
